Role Summary/Purpose: Dynamic system models and the simulation of power generation assets are critical to system design, operability, operator training, and control software validation in the P&W business. As the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), GE has an unmatched domain expertise that drives a clear understanding of the physics governing equipment operation, complemented by a wealth of fleet data to tune & calibrate the models.

This internship position is with Modeling & Simulation team.
Essential Responsibilities: Modeling and Simulation team primarily uses EASY5 as a simulation engine for simulating complex process dynamics to assist control and operability design of power plants. During the course of this journey a set of highly complex models representing plant components are developed as library.This internship assignment would include:

- Exploration of Simulink or Simscape to develop combined cycle power plant model to augment plant control verification and validation.
- Development of physics/data based model for components like Boiler, Economizer, Super heater, Attemperator, Control valve etc. after exploration of tools capabilities.
- Development of a combined cycle model using developed components.
- Development of a GUI based configurator tool in Matlab to generate plant model based on Gate cycle and calibrate to match some steady state conditions.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Candidate pursuing Master's Degree in Engineering (Controls, Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical or Chemical).

- Self-starter with ability to work individually and in teams.

- Demonstrated ability to meet goals and objectives.

- Understanding of gas turbine, steam turbine, or combined-cycle power plant controls and auxiliary systems.
- Working knowledge of dynamic simulation packages such as Matlab/Simulink/Simscape, Easy5, Dynsim, HYSIS or ASPEN.
- Solid track record of engineering accomplishments.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Strong Oral and written communication skills.
