Role Summary/Purpose: The Balance of Plant Proposal Engineer for Distributed Power will direct and coordinate the technical efforts required to develop a proposal for turnkey power plants. This individual will ensure all technical requirements have cost and schedule that aligns with the overall bid strategy. They will support the Proposal Managers on global project opportunities.
Essential Responsibilities: In this role, you will:
  • Work with BOP engineering, Proposal Manager, Global EPC Partners, and Scheduling to compile the technical portion of the overall GE Contract
  • Be responsible for directing and coordinating Engineering and Design for turnkey power plant proposals
  • Work will include: Developing project opportunity scope and work with cross functional teams to determine the resources required
  • Play an active role in planning out the engineering budget required for execution
  • Act as the technical leader to bring all the discipline engineers input together
  • Coordinate the technical interfaces with the Proposal Manager, Cost Estimator, BOP discipline engineers, Partners, and cross functional teams
  • Attend customer meeting supporting Proposal Manager and Commercial teams
  • Meet with Customers and Partners to document project scope for input to proposals
  • Be accountable for boundaryless coordination with Sales, Commercial Operations, and global EPC partners in supporting bid strategies addressing scope, schedule, performance and terms and conditions
  • Ensure compliance with all organizational processes including QMS Procedures
  • Ensure a quality transition is made from deal development to project execution
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or other technical discipline from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 5 years in Power Plant Design or engineering related role
  • Minimum of 3 years in Project Engineering working with multi-discipline Engineering Teams

    Eligibility Requirements:

  • Ability and willingness to travel globally 35% of the time
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • GE Leadership Development program; Demonstrated Leadership in a matrix environment
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver while handling large numbers of diverse tasks
  • Project management experience in power industry
  • Construction management experience
  • Field engineering experience
  • Experience managing Engineering Sub-contractors
  • Contract management or negotiation experience
  • High energy level self-starter
  • Technical knowledge of product lines and associated systems Microsoft suite proficiency Six Sigma training or equivalent quality training
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leaderships skills
  • Minimum of 1 year of combined experience with Distributed Power Products
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with Power Projects and EPC contractors in simple and/or combined cycle applications
