| Role Summary/Purpose: | This role is going to be the Technical Lead for the Power Generation Risk and Modeling Team, responsible for technology leadership across the PGS Risk IT Portfolio of applications. Responsibilities include driving of architecture and technology improvements, driving optimized design strategy, and overseeing a team of dedicated technology leaders focused on delivering enterprise applications to our end users. |
| Essential Responsibilities: | - With the next generation of Risk modeling and management tools being deployed in 2015 and beyond, this is a critical role looking for a talented technologist with people and technology management skills. - This role requires solid project management managing onshore / offshore vendors resources as well as possess excellent communication skills and has the capability to interact with - and influence –project team leaders as well as other stakeholders within IT and Business teams. - Lead the team of lead software engineers to support the technical design and support of Risk based applications - Provides technical leadership to scrum teams and extended team through mentoring and technical documentation - Participate in determining the technical roadmap and strategy for the platform - Reviews description of business requirements and conceptual system designs to provide direction on the technical platforms - Technical evaluation of application changes - Recommend/help define standards, guidelines, and procedures for all aspects of software development, system design, in partnership with business architects/analytics teams. - Research new technologies, patterns and methodologies related to enhancing code quality and developer productivity. - Brings an understanding of the enterprise, business system and industry to the team(s) supporting or interfacing with an application. - Facilitates detailed application technical design and enforces adherence to GE design and security standards. - Leads build vs. buy activities, always looking to leverage existing functionality. - Maintain peer relationships across IM areas (infrastructure, operations, etc) to support effective implementations - Key attribute is hands on approach for providing technology leadership or enterprise wide software strategic planning and execution. - This employee will work closely with Agile leads/developers as well as Quality Assurance/Business Analysts on a daily basis to ensure optimal technological direction being followed in Risk Modeling related software delivery. In addition, following the DevOps model, this employee will also be expected to jump in with the scrum teams to tackle high priority operations challenges when they emerge. |
| Qualifications/Requirements: | - 9+ years of experience in IT - 5+ years of experience with Java, J2EE and web development - 3+ years of experience with database and UI - Strong knowledge of OOD, software design patterns and principles. - Java 5/6 , J2EE expert - Strong JPA, JTA, JMS and Spring framework. - Knowledge of SOA based development and Cloud computing. - Strong Web Service, XML technologies (SOAP, JAXB, WSDL, XML). - Strong knowledge JUnit and Test Driven Development practices. - Experience with Oracle SQL. - Knowledge on emerging web technologies - Strong knowledge of distributed and parallel computing - Experience working with Agile software development methodologies. - Experience of Predix development - BI and Analytics experience is desirable - Energetic, technical innovator who will bring their expertise along with a keen drive to learn the new technologies - Ability to hit tight deadlines and work under pressure - Ability to clearly articulate complex ideas to technical resources - Excellent judgment, organizational and problem solving skills - Exceptional interpersonal skills - Verbal, written and listening - Strong desire for exploring, evaluating and understanding new technologies - Strong sense of ownership, urgency and drive - Demonstrated customer focus – evaluates decisions through the eyes of the customer, builds strong customer relationships and creates processes with customer viewpoint - Strong team player – collaborates well with others to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources; has experience working with others on a global basis; applies know ledge to coach and mentor others - Change oriented – actively generates process improvements, supports and drives change and confronts difficult circumstances in creative ways - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, Finance or related field. |
