Role Summary/Purpose: The Senior Contract Manager will provide broad-based and thorough commercial contract management support to the Schenectady, NY based Solar Business for all contractual issues regarding the sale, installation, service, and testing of solar power plants. The Senior Contract Manager will build a strong connection with and support the Sales, Project Management, Engineering, Sourcing, Warranty and Services teams in all contractual matters.
Essential Responsibilities: As the Senior Contract Manager, you will:


  • Define templates for PPA (Power Purchase Agreement), EPC (Engineer, Procure, Construct), SOW (Statement of Work), O&M (Operation & Maintenance)
  • Serve as point of contact for contract language with the customer
  • Evaluate assigned contracts to understand scope, schedule, terms and risks
  • Draft and issue change orders
  • Identify, document, and manage key contractual risks through the life of the contract
  • Collaborate with Project Managers in the execution of contract obligations
  • Perform detailed contract analyses in response to emerging issues
  • Develop negotiation strategies, prepare for and participate in customer negotiations as needed
  • Identify and develop margin enhancement with Change Orders, claims, and other recovery opportunities for GE
  • Defend and mitigate contractual claims against GE and prepare for and participate in settlement negotiations
  • Manage major insurance claims and subcontractor recoveries
  • Maintain contract documents, amendments, change orders and key contract data in automated contract management systems
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a Technical field with a minimum of 7 years of contract or project management experience in the power or construction industry

    OR


  • Master’s Degree with a minimum of 5 years of contract or project management experience in the power or construction industry

    OR


  • Law Degree (Juris Doctor or equivalent) with a minimum of 3 years of contract or project management experience in the power or construction industry

    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT:

  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally 30%
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
    Desired Characteristics:
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with power industry supply, construction, and/or services contracts
  • Fluency in English with effective written and oral communication skills
  • Strong presentation and negotiation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple complex issues concurrently
  • OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer), Developer, or EPC experience in power industry
  • Fluency in German, Italian, Spanish, or French
  • Experience with renewable energy / wind turbine based power generation projects
