Role Summary/Purpose: The Engineering Manager of Wind Gearbox COE will lead the gearbox design engineering team to develop world-class wind gearboxes, including life-cycle design support through manufacture, installation, operation & servicing.
Essential Responsibilities: As the Engineering Manager of Wind Gearbox COE, you will:


  • Lead team to develop component designs that meet functional & product objectives and to deliver component requirements, including drawings & specifications
  • Set priorities within the team to best meet objects of the organization & overall business
  • Be accountable for on-time & high-quality deliverables from the team
  • Integrate team with cross-functional teams, including supply chain, projects, services, and fleet reliability
  • Guide long term planning of component life-cycle & strategy
  • Define manpower, budget, & scheduling needs in support of Blueprint Planning
  • Drive component root cause analysis, corrective action implementation, & preventative action implementation
  • Lead team to complete wide-range of tasks including component analysis, testing, certification, cost reduction, supplier qualification, fulfillment support, & customer support
  • Drive simplification, customer focus, quality enhancements, & productivity improvement within team
  • Drive component safety, EHS, & ISO compliance within team
  • Develop talent within team, including training requirements
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.

  • Advanced Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Strong leadership skills, including ability to partner, communicate, & influence at any organizational level
  • Strong understanding of general physics and mechanical engineering fundamentals
  • Track record of pro-active thinking & action to ensure quality, plus strong issue resolution skills
  • Proven interpersonal skills in a global team
  • Experience in design or manufacturing of complex components or systems
  • Experience with design or manufacture of gearboxes or similar drivetrains
  • Demonstrated ability to coach team
  • Proven communication skills in both written and oral English
  • Six Sigma Green / Black Belt certification or equivalent quality certification
