The Lead Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE), will develop and lead First Piece Qualification plans, process / product verification efforts, quality systems audits, supplier CI and supplier surveillance program.
Essential Responsibilities: In addition you will:

  • Be responsible for driving quality for assigned suppliers, improving quality performance via Quality Plan implementation
  • Drive supplier selection through robust qualification processes
  • Accelerate improvements in supplier quality and deliver value
  • Develop positive relationships and work closely with Sourcing Leaders to manage and implement supplier / engineering changes, New Product Introductions (NPI), and transfers
  • Interface with Suppliers and Supply chain to drive Quality improvements
  • Deliver results as measured by key metrics, such as supplier yield, field cost, field defect rate, supplier quality plan engagement / effectiveness, and corrective & preventative action closure
  • Drive improvements utilizing Supplier Scorecards and own Supplier audits, ensuring supplier compliance and driving improvement plans
  • Understand and drive Six Sigma quality internally and with suppliers
  • Provide Quality Engineering expertise requiring advanced / specialized skills and a broad range of quality engineering expertise
  • Specify, develop, and accept advanced technology, quality information and test equipment
  • Provide advanced Quality Engineering of new product introduction involving new processes or advanced automated equipment
  • Provide technical expertise to customers / licensees in solving technical problems associated with test facilities
  • Provide correlation with GE facilities
  • Act as consultant to the Quality, Manufacturing and Engineering organizations to improve Quality and Manufacturing processes, introduce new products and improve product design
  • Specify and develop product acceptance / test procedures that relate to a complex process (state-of-the-art) or highly complex product
  • Provide leadership role during investigations of major problems and of special projects
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in sourcing, engineering or manufacturing

    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening
  • Ability and willingness to potentially travel 25% - 50%
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
    Desired Characteristics:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (electrical degree) from an accredited college or university
  • Experience with electrical hardware i.e. pitch system, DTA, Top Box, convertor, pitch motor, transformers, generators, MVSG, slip rings
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to cope with multiple complex situations daily
  • Negotiation expertise is preferred
  • Experience with mechanical hardware (i.e. gearbox, drives, slewing bearings, crane etc.)
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certification or equivalent quality certification
