New gas turbine control technologies require continually more advanced performance from the turbine control systems. The large volume of orders created by these new technology advances requires talented individuals with the right mix of technical and problem-solving skills. Essential Responsibilities: In this position, the Hardware Structuring engineer is responsible for the creation and validation of Electro-Mechanical packaging for a variety of Energy Control Technology (ECT) product families including, but not limited to, Mark*VIe Turbine control, EX2100 Excitation and LS2100 Static Starter. This position will offer the opportunity to directly interface with controls engineering as well as manufacturing. The successful candidate will utilize their problem-solving, technical and interpersonal skills. In addition, you will:

  • Collect, review and/or generate documentation for packaging requirements from various, global GE business units in the US, France, Italy and India
  • Work in a cross-functional environment (Engineering, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Customers) to identify the best solutions for these businesses
  • Work in a cross-functional environment (Engineering, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Customers) to improve manufacturability, reduce cost and improve cycle
  • Document design activities by maintaining design record books and design practices
  • Lead system and mechanical design efforts supported by off-site global resources
  • Partner with Automation team to incorporate new designs into Automation tools
  • Own and manage multiple projects
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering or in a related technical discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in electro-mechanical systems design

    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Understand electro-mechanical system elementary, one-line diagrams, bill of materials, layout and layout diagrams, wire labeling, & construction diagrams
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.

  • Proficient with Pro-E & AutoCAD
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and lead others
  • Familiarity of Energy Controls Technology products
  • MS Degree in Engineering
