Role Summary/Purpose: The Engineering Program Leader, Conversions, Modifications and Updations (CM&U) Engineering will support the global fleet of LM gas turbines, packages, and related BOP equipment to improve the reliability, performance, emissions, efficiency, configuration or safety.
Essential Responsibilities: The CM&U projects vary from small controls software upgrades to repowering entire gas turbine generator set with latest proven technology. Within Performance Solutions Engineering, the team supports two functions: ITO (Inquiry -To -Order) and OTR (Order to Remittance). Project engineers work together to support the sales & commercial operations team during the proposal phase. Once a contract is signed, team works with project management, field service and sourcing to execute and deliver the project.



As the Engineering Program Leader, CM&U Engineering, you will:


  • Be responsible for overall engineering leadership to operationalize, support and develop product strategy for CM&U products as part of a key GPB initiative including product proposals and quoting, NPI program management & fulfillment
  • Manage product & service development programs from the concept stage through introduction into production for Repower & Systems upgrades
  • Work closely with sales, commercial, internal engineering, vendors and external customers in developing bid strategy, equipment offering, sales proposals & requisition development needs for CM&U upgrades
  • Interface with external customers to identify their technology needs & generate new growth opportunities and address critical technology issues for CM&U business
  • Respond to customer technical inquires with estimated product performance and other pertinent technical information
  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and commercial splashes with sales and/or customer during user’s conference
  • Develop Customer support strategy and support global requests
  • Work with Suppliers on new technologies, systems and components
  • Monitor industry and technology trends as well as regulatory developments to develop new solutions
  • Foster an innovative environment, develop innovative solutions and enhance the intellectual property rights of the Company
  • Manage the engineering NPI program scope, costs, schedules, and risks, plus the product cost, reliability, and bills of material (BOM)
  • Be responsible for the maintenance of NPI tollgate scorecards and preparation and presentation of the engineering tollgates
  • Lead the engineering programs input for the S1 and S2 process (1- and 3-year forecast)
  • Lead the effort to develop sales tools (design standards, one-pagers, etc) to arm sales team and improve ITO responsiveness
  • Develop engineering manpower & schedule estimates in support of sales support
  • Communicate with key stakeholders, including engineering management, product line management, project management, sourcing, etc.
  • Implement the relevant ISO procedures and instructions and drive action items to closure
  • Support site surveys and customer meetings
  • Manage the engineering OTR projects through engineering partners with focus on scope, costs, schedules, quality and risks, plus the product cost, reliability, and bills of material (BOM)
  • Ability to manage and track program budgets
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive engineering experience

    ELIGIBITLIY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability and willingness to travel, as required
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
    Desired Characteristics:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with Electrical or Mechanical systems associated with Gas turbine Packaging.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with engineering principles, P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Drawings) and/or electrical schematics and loop drawings
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience designing integrated mechanical/electrical systems similar to aeroderivative gas turbine packages
  • Experience dealing with developing budgets
  • Knowledge of Codes and Standards applicable to Gas Turbine Packaging
  • Experience developing or managing manufacturing Bills of Material (BOM)
  • Experience leading projects involving multi-disciplinary teams located globally
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certified or Black Belt certified or equivalent quality certification
  • Experience working in a global matrix organization
  • Experience in technical customer support
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with cross-functional experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to make data-based recommendations and decisions
  • Ability to successfully work in a team environment
